“Art About Me”For ages 6-9 July 21 – July 25, 2008 Instructor: Donna Fulton, Art Specialist/Critical Thinking Teacher, J. W. Mitchell High School This camp will introduce younger children to the elements and principles of design and art styles of the twentieth century. Campers will learn self-exploration skills through different mediums such as painting, drawing, and papier mâché. $150 for LRMA members and $175 for non-members per child, per week, due by July 11 |
“Watercolor Techniques: From Glue to Nail Polish”For ages 10-13 July 28 – August 1, 2008, 9:30-3:00 daily Instructor: Pat Priscoe, former art teacher, Pinellas County Schools After exploring 20 resist and texturing techniques that can be used in watercolor painting, campers will apply a choice of techniques to create a landscape, a still life, and an abstract painting. The history and nature of watercolor and viewing watercolors in the Museum’s collection are also part of this camp. $150 for LRMA members and $175 for non-members per child, per week, due by July 11 |
“Speak Out, Act Up!” Mini Drama CampFor ages 9-13 Saturday, July 26, 2008, 9:30-3:00 Instructor: Nan Colton, Performing Artist, Educator, and owner of Solo Productions Campers will speak out and act up as they learn teamwork, active listening, and public speaking using improvisation games, mime, and line memorization and observation exercises. Children should wear clothes they can wiggle in, and activities will emphasize the spontaneous creative process. A finale for friends and family will close this fun-filled day. $30 per child for LRMA members and $35 for non-members for the day, due by July 11 |
Campers should bring lunch and snacks daily and dress for mess. The day includes short breaks in the morning and afternoon and a supervised lunch and play break in the Fine Arts Lobby and Museum Interactive Gallery between noon and 1:00.
