Announcing the Zhemchuzhinka Song and Dance Troupe from Russia

Broadway stars, step aside, and make way for Zhemchuzhinka’s visit to New York City!

Students, faculty, and community residents alike will be fascinated by this group of young Russian dancers, ages 18-25, from Orenburg State University. Zhemchuzhinka’s spell-binding performance, reminiscent of Cirque Du Soleil, features breathtakingly-beautiful authentic Russian costumes and fast-paced, rhythmic dance routines. The repertoire includes Russian folk songs, acrobatic dance, belly dance, and jazz and rock music in modern staging.

Zhemchuzhinka’s visit to the United States is a result of an educational and cultural exchange between St. Petersburg College, St. Petersburg, Florida; and Orenburg State University in Siberia, Russia. Dr. Carl Kuttler, president of St. Petersburg College, initiated this exchange by taking a delegation of SPC music students to Orenburg, where they performed traditional American music for Orenburg students and faculty. SPC is now reciprocating by bringing Zhemchuzhinka to the United States.

Audiences will be visibly impressed by the maturity, professionalism and stage presence of this group of young performers. This is a "Don’t Miss" opportunity!
