Six baseball players from the college’s Suncoast Conference championship team were selected in the recent Major League Baseball draft.
For Coach Dave Pano, it is another indication of the talent he is able to bring to the college. In his 11 years here, he has had 63 players sign pro contracts. Of those, three have been in the majors this year — Alfredo Amezega, Florida Marlins; Nick Massett, Chicago White Sox; and Bobby Wilson, Los Angeles Angels.

One of Pano’s assistants also has been on the move. Pitching coach John Vigue has accepted the head coaching position at St. Petersburg Catholic. Pano has not named a replacement for Vigue, but has added former Dunedin High School assistant Dennis Duncan to help with the team and focus on recruiting.
