Clearwater Campus Social Science Government Lecture Series
On Wednesday, September 28, 2010, Pinellas County Commissioner Kenneth Welch spoke on the role of county government and the importance of citizen involvement in government. During the presentation he discussed some of the top issues facing Pinellas County. More than 80 students and staff attended the lecture. Welch was elected to the County Commission in November 2000, and reelected in 2004 and 2008. We thank Commissioner Welch for sharing with students the role of county government and the importance of civic engagement.

Congratulations Professor Kim Molinaro on receiving the Clearwater Campus SGA Teacher of the Year Award for 2009-2010. Molinaro is an instructor of psychology.

Clearwater Campus Social Science Government Lecture Series
On Monday, April 5, 2010, Professor Roy Slater moderated a panel discussion on the importance of a free media/press to democracy and media coverage of elections and politics. More than 150 students and staff attended the event. The panel: William March, senior political writer at Tampa Tribune; Angie Holan, reporter and researcher for PolitiFact; Rob Lorei, managing editor of Florida This Week on PBS and co-founder of WMNF Radio; and Steve Myers, managing editor of Poynter Online. We thank the panel for the great discussion on the media.

The Psychology Lab (SS 161) opened in August 2009. Space is available for SPC students and groups to study and use computers, and for small classes to work on group research projects.
