Student Clubs & Organizations

BADEYA (Black Student Union)

To foster a sense of community and respect among all students; particularly students of the African Diaspora. Advisor: Jim Parker, (727) 791-2512.

CHESS CLUB

For chess enthusiasts, novice to expert. Advisor: Bill Hall, (727)791-2674.

COLLEGE DEMOCRATS

To increase the participation of SPC college students in democratic affairs. Advisor: Carmen Hall, (727)791-2719.

COMPUTER CLUB

To bridge the gap in communications between the different campuses at SPC and provide a social setting for networking among students interested in computer careers and related fields. Advisor: Matt Basham, (727) 341-3010.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

To present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. Advisor: John Hughes, (727) 791-2438.

HIGH ACHIEVERS (part of Student Support Services)

To inspire students to excel personally, academically, and professionally to obtain their goals by providing an atmosphere of support, friendship, and a freedom to pursue their individual dreams. Advisor: Daphne Mitchell, (727)791-2440.

INTERVARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

Intervarsity Christian Fellowship is an interdenominational, multi-ethnic, worldwide movement of students and faculty who are committed to Jesus Christ as lord.  Advisor:  Carmen Hall, (727) 791-2561.

LATINOS UNITED

To create awareness of the Hispanic/Latino culture. Open to all students focusing on Hispanic Heritage with an array of activities to promote education and personal growth. Advisor: Rod Davis, (727)791-5901.

MATH & SCIENCES CLUB

To aid members with developing mathematical skills and to provide a friendly forum for those with interests in math and science. Advisor: Latrica Williams and Carl Opper, (727)791-2714.

PHI THETA KAPPA, TAU ZETA CHAPTER (Honor Society)

An internationally recognized honor society for two year college students whose goals are scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Membership requirements include: 3.25 GPA or higher, completion of 12 college-level credit hours at SPC, and payment of one time membership dues. POSITIVE DIRECTIONS ASSOCIATION (part of Women on the Way)

To assist the Women on the Way Challenge Center as it encourages adult students who have been out of an educational or vocational environment to adjust to their new role and environment; to encourage and promote social and educational involvement and to act as mentors for adult students. Advisor: Sharon Coil, (727)791-2555.

SILENT TITANS (American Sign Language)

To promote awareness and understanding of the hearing and deaf cultures through social activities. It also provides an opportunity for students to meet and continue to improve ASL skills. Advisor: Sally Shortz, (727)791-2487 and Beth Carlson, (727)791-2746.

SPORTS AND RECREATION

To create and promote friendly competition among students, faculty and staff with a variety of sport, fitness, and recreational activities and events. Advisor: Antonio Seay, (727)791-2658.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA)

To act as the official liaison between the student body and the college administration.  Meetings are held every Monday at 1 p.m. in ST 113.  Advisor: Mark Younger, (727)791-2622.

WORLD PERCUSSION CLUB

To bring students together from many different cultures and backgrounds, with musical skill levels ranging from novice to advanced, to participate in the cooperative performance of percussive instruments.  Advisor: Mark Younger, (727)791-2622.

WHEELS IN THE WIND (Disability Education)

Open to all students who have an interest in disabilities, the disabled, and disability education. An open forum to share ability experiences and ideas among the campus at large.  Advisor: Carol Clark, (727)791-2526.
