SPC School Certification #: 803
Mortgage Broker Pre-Licensure
24 Hours
Description
This course prepares participants to pass Florida's state exam for Mortgage
Brokers. Section 494.0033 of the Florida Statute states that a person applying
for a Mortgage Broker License MUST complete 24 hours of classroom education on
primary and subordinate financing transactions and the laws and rules of §
494.001-494.0088, F.S. to be eligible for licensure. You must attend all
sessions in order to receive your certificate. There will be no exceptions.
Successful completion of the state examination, with a grade of at least 75,
depends upon a thorough understanding of state and federal mortgage broker law,
current and accepted mortgage principles and technical information basic to the
mortgage broker profession. Purchase the workbook at the start of class. You must also bring a
calculator to all class sessions. There will be
an end-of course progress test. A free re-take of the course is offered to any
student who fails the state exam.
It is highly
recommended that you apply at the start of the class to take the state exam so
you do not experience a delay once class is completed. Course completion does
not guarantee job placement. To apply for a Mortgage Broker application, go to
the state website: www.dbf.state.fl.us
or write for Form DBF-MB101 at the Division of Finance, Fletcher Building (Suite
B-23), 101 East Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399-0350. St. Petersburg
College is also an official testing site for the Mortgage Broker State Exam.
