Session Presenter, Dr. Barbara Anderson, is an experienced grant professional with 20+ years experience developing and supervising more than $50,000,000 of grants Basic Grant Writing and Development Workshop -- 16 hours This workshop covers: elementary grant proposal writing techniques, funding sources (public and private grants), enhancing connection between agencies, businesses, and communities, strategies for winning grant funds, variety of proposal requirements and commonalities, common issues of grant writers and effective solutions, and interactive dialogue with other grant developers Schedule
Advanced Grant Writing and Development Workshops Participants must bring a current grant proposal, announcement (Request for Proposal), and/or program guidelines to be utilized during the workshops. Each workshop will be limited to five participants, and may be customized for a particular audience and/or type of grant application (public or private funding). Interaction between participants for peer editing/reviewing will be a major focus of each workshop. One to two weeks will be planned between each workshop to allow for further revisions by the participants on their own. By the conclusion of each workshop, the participants will have a first draft of that workshop topic for their own grant proposal. Research and Analysis of Funding Sources -- 4 hours This hands-on workshop will teach participants how to use The Foundation Center’s Directory to research federal and state government grants, as well as private foundations by utilizing The Foundation Center’s Directory. Grant competitive research strategies will train staff/personnel about upcoming grant opportunities and how to locate and access grant sources. (Note: this class is held at the Juvenile Welfare Board Resource Center, JWB Library, 6698 68th Avenue North, Suite A, Pinellas Park, FL 33781). Schedule
Developing Project Need and Design -- 8 hours These two mentoring sessions will involve topics such as problem and need statements construction, data collection to prove need, funding priorities, selection criteria, supporting activities, goals and objectives, and marketing plan. Project Evaluation, Management, and Budget Plans -- 4 hours This mentoring session involves techniques and skills for implementing performance management, measurement requirements, and reporting strategies associated with funding will be studied and developed. Topics will include selection and responsibilities of key personnel, organization chart, timeline, applicant’s capacity and adequacy of resources, and grant sustainability. Development of the evaluation plan and budget will be strategized, along with compliance with effective practices to guarantee meeting deadlines and reporting requirements. Schedule
