SPC offers guaranteed placement in clinical "internships", small classes, instructors who work in the field, excellent student support services, and affordable tuition. In addition, the program is noted for it's high pass rate on certification examinations and high graduate placement rate.   SPC has been educating medical laboratory technicians since 1972. In 2001 it was one of the first colleges in the nation to offer an MLT program by distance education. The SPC MLT Online Program has a proven track record of success, with 100% of graduates passing the national certification examination given by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). In a survey of students, 85% rated the SPC MLT online courses as equal to or better than face-to-face courses. The program received the Florida Association of Community Colleges Excellence in Curriculum Award and is fully accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
