Training
"The METI Human Patient Simulator (HPS) offers an unparalleled
degree of training for all health care personnel. It easily becomes the focal point of the curriculum in every discipline of
medical education." (METI, 1997). Here at SPC Nursing, we are fortunate to have two such simulators, Stan, Sr. and
Stan, Jr.
Stan Sr. came to us in the Spring of 1998 for use in our
Nursing Resource/Learning Lab. A unique teaching tool, the simulator allows nursing students of all levels to put
into practice what they've learned in theory, without putting a "real" client in jeopardy. The HPS offers a risk free
learning environment where students actually have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes.
The addition of Stan, Jr. in the Spring of 2000 adds another
dimension to our Resource/Learning Lab. Now students can learn on a pediatric simulator as well as the adult simulator
in the same risk free environment.
