Biography

Dean of Mathematics

Sharon Griggs has been with the college for 13 years as mathematics program director at the SP/G Campus. Before joining the college, she was with the University of Kentucky community college system, where she was a department chair and textbook author.

Griggs has given presentations and served on committees for the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges. She recently served as treasurer and vice president of programs for the Florida Two-Year College Mathematics Association.

She has a bachelor’s in mathematics from Loretto Heights College (now part of Regis University in Denver) and a master’s in mathematics from Ball State University. She also has 31 hours beyond her master’s from the University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana, Western Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky and Portland State University.

She said her goal is to bring communication, consensus, consistency, collaboration and critical thinking to the mathematics area.
