Home

Mission statement:

The College Reach Out Program is designed to motivate and prepare public school students to achieve high education in post-secondary institutions. To participate in the program 6th through 12th grade students must meet specific academic and economic criteria.  The program is school-based; however, SPC Midtown also serves as a site for after-school academic tutoring.  Tutoring is scheduled for Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Students that participate in the College Reach Out Program in addition to tutoring services are also engaged in visits to colleges and universities, local businesses, and cultural events.  These activities are designed to provide motivation, enrichment, and encouragement for students toward entering and completing college.

The College Reach Out Program provides:

  • Academic assessment
  • Workshops on study skills and test taking strategies
  • Tutoring in math, reading comprehension, and technology
  • Academic and career counseling
  • Opportunity to attend cultural activities
  • Opportunity to participate in a one week Summer Residential Program to experience living on a university campus while engaging in developing academic projects, conducting research, developing leadership and teambuilding skills, improving technology skills and participating in social and recreational activities.
