From our Welcome Back events to the annual picnic in the park with American Stage Theatre, SPC Midtown fills each term with social, cultural, wellness, and education programs. Students can apply their leadership skills by joining SGA, who assist in planning and implementing upcoming student activities.
SPC Midtown also offers a student discount program for local shopping and dining. Just show an SPC ID card to participating vendors and receive discounts on food, clothing, museum tickets and other great services.

Do you want to help St. Petersburg College be the best it can be? Then step up and become a part of Student Government Association. Only serious, committed, and community-minded students should apply. If you wish to file for candidacy for a position, please read a copy of the Constitution and Bylaws (on-line and in the Student Life & Leadership Office) and complete an Application (on-line & at Front Desks).

The following positions are open:
E-Board:
2.5 Cummulative GPA; Minimum of 6 credit hours, as well as have 6 credit hours already completed. He/She, must attend all SGA meetings, unless a situation that is not under their control occurs (in which case they must give adequate notice). All officers are required to complete a minimum of 15 volunteer hours per semester as well as an additional 2 hours in the Student Life and Leadership office. Lastly, each officer must be a chair of a committee and actively participate in SGA events, along with complying with all duties stated in the Constitution Bylaws.
The Secretary will take minutes of all Student Government Association and Executive Meetings and post them on ANGEL to be reviewed by all members. At SGA meetings the Secretary must present an electronic draft of the minutes for review and approval by the SGA members. He/she will have the authority to duplicate Student Government Association related materials. He/she will prepare forms or letters upon direction of the President, E-Board, or the Student Government Association itself. He/she will be responsible for typing and distributing copies of the agenda. He/She is responsible for keeping track of volunteer participation (i.e. volunteers who signed up, volunteers who attended, and the hours that were contributed). In case of an absence of both the President and Vice President it is the Secretary’s duty to conduct the SGA meeting.
The Legislative Liaison of the SGA will share with the President the responsibilities of representing the Student Government Association in state and district matters.
- He/she will keep up to date with and communicate any legislative matters affecting students and will represent the concerns of the student body to the College Administrations, Board of Trustees (BOT), student body, and/ or local legislators.
- He/She will communicate with the State and District Legislative liaisons, staying abreast of legislative issues.
- He/She is responsible for scheduling appointments with senators and or legislators for FCCSGA trips as needed.
- He/She will communicate the FCCSGA issues to the students, gain feedback from them, and have them vote accordingly at the state conference.
- He/she will also coordinate any letter writing campaigns dealing with student and/or college concerns.
The Treasurer will be responsible for all sales and collections. He/She will also be in charge of keeping all records regarding any fundraising monies collected on behalf of SGA. In case of the absence of the Secretary, the Treasurer will perform secretarial duties. He/She will also be responsible for the distribution and collection of all required travel documents.
Senator:
2.0 Cummulative GPA; Minimum of 6 credit hours
He/She is a voting member. Must volunteer a minimum of 10 hours a semester. These volunteer opportunities include campus, college, and
community activities/events that are sponsored by SPC/SGA. Also a senator must exemplify St. Petersburg College’s BOT Rules, student handbook
rules, be in good academic standing, and show leadership qualities. A senator must attend all SGA meetings, unless an excused absence is
presented to the President and/or the Advisor.
