Admissions and Graduation Requirements

You can enroll in the SPC Honors College:
- Directly from high school
- As an SPC student in Collegiate High School, Early College, Dual Enrollment Program , or Early Admissions Program
- After completing one or more semesters at SPC
- When transferring to SPC from another college or university
Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements for High School Students:
- Be in the top ten percent (10%) of high school graduating class or have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher OR
- Score of 1200 or higher on the SAT OR
- Score of 26 or higher on the ACT OR
- Score of 120+ on the Reading and Writing sections of the College Placement Test (PERT) AND
- Score of satisfactory on special topic essay
Admission Requirements for students in Collegiate High School, Early College, Dual Enrollment Program, or Early Admissions Program:
- College cumulative GPA of 3.5 (unweighted) or higher with at least 12 credits of college coursework AND
- Academic recommendation for admission to the Honors Program from a counselor or an instructor AND
- Score of satisfactory on special topic essay
Admission Requirements for SPC Current Students and Transfer Students:
- College GPA of 3.5 or higher with at least 12 or more credit hours of college coursework (not including preparatory level courses) AND
- Satisfactory score on special topic essay AND
- Two letters of academic recommendation from SPC faculty members (Honors College director, academic dean, or honors advisor)
Continuation Requirements
Requirements to remain in the Honors College (continuation requirements):
- GPA of 3.3 or higher in honors courses and enrollment average of 3 credit hours of honors courses per semester
- Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher by the end of the academic year
- Involvement in service learning projects and/or extracurricular activities each semester
Honors College Requirements for Graduation with Honors diploma or certificate
- 18 credit hours of honors-designated courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for Honors diploma OR
- 11 credit hours of honors-designated courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher for Honors certificate AND
- Participation and completion of several service learning projects (independent or as a component of the honors course) and/or extra-curricular activities AND
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 in honors-designated courses
