Benefit payments are sent
- Directly to the school for tuition and fee payments
- Directly to you for the housing allowance and book stipend
When benefits are paid
Post 9/11 GI Bill housing, book and supply stipends are paid “after
the fact.” This means that your housing stipend for January won’t be
received until February. If you are starting school for the first time,
your first payment may not cover a full month of housing because the VA
pays from the actual day you start school. So, if you start Jan. 8, your
February payment will be for the 23 days you attended in January.
