Veterans Payment Details

Benefit payments are sent

  • Directly to the school for tuition and fee payments
  • Directly to you for the housing allowance and book stipend

When benefits are paid

Post 9/11 GI Bill housing, book and supply stipends are paid “after the fact.” This means that your housing stipend for January won’t be received until February. If you are starting school for the first time, your first payment may not cover a full month of housing because the VA pays from the actual day you start school. So, if you start Jan. 8, your February payment will be for the 23 days you attended in January.

Change in definition of blended course effective Fall 2013

The VA considers the following definition for a blended course: 50 minutes per credit hour must be in lecture format to be certified as “resident” credit hours to the VA for BAH purposes.

For example:
3 credit hours * 50 =150
Therefore, must be 150 minutes in lecture to be certified as resident
