HIM 2222 BASIC ICD CODING 3 credits
Prerequisites: Admission to the Health Information Management A.S. degree program or the Medical Coder Certificate program and: (CGS 1070 with a grade of “C” or better or Computer/Information Literacy Competency requirement), HSC 1531 with a grade of “C” or better and either BSC 1083 or BSC 1084C or (BSC 2085/2085L and BSC 2086/2086L) with grades of “C” or better. Pre- or corequisites: HIM 1000 with a grade of “C” or better and HIM 1430 with a grade of “C” or better. This course is an introduction to the basic coding principles of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding system. 47 contact hours.
