RED 4511 INTERMEDIATE LITERACY 3-6: READING, WRITING AND THINKING 2-3 credits
Prerequisite: (Admission to Initial Certification) or (RED 3309 and(EDG 3620 or EEX 3241)) and admission to Elementary Education with Reading BS, Exceptional Education with Reading BS, Elementary Education BS, or Exceptional Education BS) or (RED 3309 and admission to Canadian EPI, Elementary Education EPI or Exceptional Education EPI). This course is a beginning reading and writing course that combines the study of theory and practice in the teaching of developmental reading/literacy in the elementary intermediate grades. The major emphasis of the course is placed on current theories, methods, and materials used in reading/literacy and writing instruction. Lecture, discussion, simulated teaching and fieldwork constitute different course activities. 47 contact hours.
