The institution publishes the name of its primary accreditor and its address and phone number in accordance with federal requirements.  In such publication or Web site, the institution makes it clear that the individual should contact the primary accreditor only if there is evidence that appears to support an institution’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.  The institution is accurate in reporting to the public its status with the Commission.  In order to meet these requirements, the institution lists the name, address, and telephone number in its catalog or Web site using the following statement:

 

(Name of member institution) is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award (name specific degree levels, such as associate, baccalaureate, masters, doctorate).  Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of (Name of member institution).

Narrative

 

St. Petersburg College is in compliance with this comprehensive standard because the name, address, and phone number of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools are published in several widely-read publications and in several places on the SPC Web site, using the appropriate language.

 

Printed Publications

 

Educational and Student Services publishes the information on the first page of the College Catalog, in the Student Handbook, both revised annually.

 

The statement in the College Catalog, both in print and on the St. Petersburg College Web site reads:

Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of St. Petersburg College.

 

The 2006-2007 Student Handbook was sent for publication before the proposed change to the Principles of Accreditation was published. It says:

St. Petersburg College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia, 3..33-4097; telephone number (404) 679-4501) to award Bachelor in Science degrees, Bachelor of Applied Science Degrees, Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science degrees, as well as certificates.

 

A change has been submitted so that the 2007-2008 Student Handbook will have the identical wording as is in the 2006-2007 Catalog.

 

Electronic format

 

On the SPC Web site, the information is published on the SACS Accreditation Page, the SPC Facts Page, the online College Catalog, and the electronically-available Faculty Manual.

 

On the SACS Accreditation Web page on the St. Petersburg College Web site, the statement reads:
