POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Provost
DEPARTMENT: President's Office
SITE: DO
SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P
- GRADE: G
BASIC FUNCTION:
Directly accountable for campus operation,
including providing leadership for staff at campus site, implementing student/academic
programs and supervising of supporting services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, develops and initiates programs
concerning organization, operation and student services/academic functions
of the specific campus.

Works with district personnel in the daily
operation of campus duties as required.

Plans specific programs in conjunction
with district staff.

Develops and maintains a learning climate
where each student can attain specific educational goals.

Utilizes personnel, facilities and fiscal
resources for the campus location.

Participates in institutional and statewide
planning.
-
Recommends hiring, trains, directs and
evaluates all personnel under immediate supervision.

Responsible for establishing informal
procedures as needed.

Handles grievances under immediate supervision.
-
Participates as member of various college
committees.
-
Administers budget for areas under direct
control.

Performs related duties as required.

This position is also identified as a
cabinet level position which has collegewide management responsibilities.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate degree, or the person has
been working in a position that is reclassified to a Provost level.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Seven (7) years professional administrative
experience in higher education.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of educational administration
and management. Verbal and written communications skills. Ability to deal
effectively with students, faculty and staff.
