POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Vice President, Economic Development & Innovative Programs
DEPARTMENT: President’s Office SITE: EpiCenter
SALARY SCHEDULE: APM GRADE: G
BASIC FUNCTION:
This is a Senior Management position working in conjunction with the President to (1) oversee enhancements to existing programs and services and (2) engage in tasks critical to the successful introduction of new programs and services into SPC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continuously scans and analyzes of the education landscape with an eye to identifying best practices and other major opportunities for SPC to apply its expertise through the development and introduction of new programs and services and/or enhancements to existing programs and services.
Fleshes out ideas and develop proposals for major new programs and services including enhanced access to baccalaureate and postgraduate programs for potential students.
Oversees the development of comprehensive plans for proposed new services.
Assembles and leads design teams for new programs and services.
Leads the college-wide budget development process in conjunction with the Vice President, Business and the college budget committee.
Coordinates strategies with internal economic development departments in support of new and expanding business in Pinellas County.
Serves on the board of the small business incubator center.
Actively seeks out ways to improve the operational efficiency of the college.
Manages and coordinates all elements of the development process for new services.
Provides leadership, oversight and coordination for college--wide
economic and program development initiatives and efforts.
Establishes and/or enhances partnerships, with business, industry, government
and community.
Identifies potential local, state and/or federal funding sources, assesses
impact and requirements, and facilitates system efforts to secure these
resources.
Maintains high level of community interaction with local economic/workforce
development entities to improve system delivery.
Acts as the chief resource person regarding local, state, and federal economic development initiatives, policies and/or legislation.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited institution with an earned doctorate.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires six (6) years senior level administrative experience in higher education program development, budget planning and development, economic development and legislative relations. Strong, creative analytical and leadership skills and ability to work effectively at all levels of the college community.

and educational entities in order to strengthen the delivery of workforce
education and training programs.

Demonstrated ability to deliver professional presentations using
state-of-the-art technology.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to meet the needs of a diverse
population, internal and external to the system.
