General Education Requirements for
the Associate in Arts Degree

The general education requirements for the Associate in Arts degree consists of a minimum of 36 semester hours, with at least 6 of those hours in mathematics. Any two courses with a MAC, MAP, MAS,  MGF, or MTG prefix are acceptable. STA 2023 may be substituted for one of these courses. A grade of "C" or higher is required for each course. The following chart contains a brief list of majors with the recommended math courses. For more information contact the Counseling and Advising Center.

Pharmacy MAC 1114 and MAC 1140
Business and Management MAC 2233 and STA 2023
Life Sciences MAC 2311 and MAC 2312
Mathematics MAC 2311, MAC 2312, and MAC 2313
Engineering MAC 2311, MAC 2312, MAC 2313, MAP 2302
Elementary Teacher Education
English Teacher Education
Biology Teacher Education
Any two courses with a MAC, MGF, or MTG prefix plus 3 additional credits in college-level Mathematics
Secondary MathematicsEducation MAC 2311, MAC 2312, and one Mathematics elective
Art
Music
Special Education
Any two courses with a MAC, MAP, MAS, or MGF prefix (STA 2023 may be substituted for one)

Humanities
Mass Communications
Social Work

Any two courses with a MAC, MAP, MAS, MGF or MTG prefix (STA 2023 may be substituted for one)

 

General Education Requirements for the
Associate in Science Degree

The general education requirements for the Associate in Science degree consists of a minimum of 18 transferable general education credits, with at least 3 of those credits in mathematics. Any college level course with a MAC, MAP, MAS, MGF, MTG or STA prefix is acceptable. A grade of "C" or higher is required for each course. The following table provides information on the math course(s) that satisfies the general education requirement for each AS degree.
