Introducing Your New SPC Librarian
Jennifer Gregor has been appointed Information Services Librarian for the Seminole and Gibbs campuses. She will begin working at the Seminole campus June 9, 2008. Jennifer is a native of Florida, although she has lived in three other southeastern states. She came back to Florida after finishing her master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky. During her undergraduate years, she studied English and Music at Berea College in Berea, KY. |
 |
Jennifer says, “I discovered my love for teaching while working with the TBLC’s librarian training programs and am looking forward to my teaching opportunities at St. Petersburg College. SPC and the Seminole campus are a great fit for me, allowing me to integrate my interest in using cutting-edge technology with my love of teaching and learning.”
She recently got married, and she and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors, especially boating in their antique (and leaky!) 1957 Feather Craft boat. She also enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and working on any one of their ongoing home renovation projects.

New VSI Series is an Eye Catcher
The Seminole Community Library now offers the Very Short Introduction series, published by Oxford University Press. Covering nearly every topic you can imagine, these titles provide the perfect introduction to subjects you previously knew little or nothing about. |
 |
If there’s a gap in your knowledge on a certain topic, or you need to get a sense of a subject in a hurry, the Very Short Introduction Series may be the best source for you. Most titles have less than 150 pages and all are pocket-size. The subjects currently available in the library include Art & Design, Biological & Physical Sciences, Classics, Ethics, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Women Studies, and much, much more. Whether preparing for an assignment or in need of leisure reading material with an intellectual appeal, this series can help to fill the gap in knowledge of almost any discipline. Most importantly, some of the most challenging topics are made easily readable. For more information about the series, contact your SPC Librarian. You can even learn more about the series and join in the discussion with the authors and readers of the books through the new VSI blog: http://blog.oup.com/category/uk/vsi/.
