Student Government Association - SGA

Student Government Association is recognized by the College Administration to be a representative voice of the student body's interests, concerns, and needs at the Seminole Campus of St. Petersburg College. SGA will serve as a liaison between the student body and the College Administration.

SGA is also a member of the Florida Junior Community College Student Government Association (FJCCSGA), which serves as the representative voice of junior and community college throughout Florida.

Benefits/Opportunities for serving as an SGA Officer or member include:

· Opportunities to represent your fellow students
· Opportunities to address the issues and concerns of junior and community college students to college administration and state legislature

· Opportunities to assist in planning and implementing Student Activities events on campus

Who can be in Student Government?

Any student who meets the following eligibility requirements:


· Currently enrolled in classes at Seminole Campus
· Must be in good standing
· Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
· Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours

How do you become an SGA member?

Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for two-year colleges.

Requirements for membership are as follows:

  • 3.25 GPA
  • Minimum of 12 semester hours completed

Opportunities/Benefits:

· Develop your leadership skills
· Enjoy fellowship opportunities with fellow students
· Attend local, state and international conferences
· Increase scholarship opportunities
· Gain intrinsic rewards from service projects

Digital Artists in Motion (formerly the Digital Media Club)

The mission of Digital Artists in Motion will be to further investigate the world of Digital Media. Some of the methods utilized by the club members: reviewing state-of-the-art equipment, researching the latest in multimedia software, engaging in group projects for the school and community, participating in various competitions, providing support and encouragement to fellow classmates. Monthly meetings are highly encouraged to promote mass congeniality in order to accomplish commons goals.

This new and exciting club is under the advisement of Delynda Keefe. Interested students should email the Advisor, Delynda Keefe at keefed@spcollege.edu or Dawn Waechter at waechter.dawn@spcollege.edu.

Meeting: 3rd Wednesday, 4.30-5.30pm in UP 301 (may change).

Video Game Tournament

Sponsored by Digital Artists in Motion, the Video Game Tournament was held on the Seminole Campus on April 12th, 2007. The competition was open to anyone ages 13 and older.

Winners of the Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament were Mark Taylor and Michael Ortiz.

Seminole Campus for Christ

Mission Statement

Seminole Campus for Christ is an interdenominational ministry committed to helping take the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations. We cooperate with millions of Christians from churches of many denominations and hundreds of other Christian organizations around the world to help Christians grow in their faith and share the Gospel message with their fellow countrymen.

Working together with these fellow believers, our goal for this decade is to help give every man, woman, and child in the entire world an opportunity to find new life in Jesus Christ. Our commitment is based on our Lord's command:

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 (NAS)

College Democrats Club

The College Democrats Club was founded to encourage student learning and participation in government, politics, and democracy. The club provides the following opportunities for SPC Seminole Campus students:

Hospitality Club

The purpose of the St. Petersburg College Hospitality Club (SPCHC) is to:

· Foster more professionalism among employees and prospective employees in the hospitality industry and to raise the standards for management and services
· To help raise the Florida tourism experience to the highest possible level
· To foster well being and family atmosphere among all members and employees in the hospitality industry

Criteria for membership:

· Must have an interest in the Hospitality Program at St. Petersburg College
· Must be a SPC student working in the industry or planning a career in the industry

Meets the 3rd Thursday of every month, Room 124, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
