BIOGRAPHY
Søren Rastogi has established himself as one of the most promising Danish musicians. He is sought after at festivals and concert venues in Denmark and internationally, both as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
As a soloist, Søren has performed with most Danish orchestras with such conductors as Christian Mandeál, Douglas Bostock, Mathias Aeschbacher, Ed Spanjaard and Thomas Søndergaard in concertos by Strawinsky, Schumann, Gershwin and Mozart. During 2010-2011 Søren will perform two piano concertos by Mozart without conductor at the Royal Library of Copenhagen.
In 2006 Søren was appointed Artist in Residence by Round Tower of Copenhagen and Danish National Radio. His residency consisted of five broadcast concerts that featured his as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. He has done a lot of additional radio work in Denmark and Norway as well as in the European Broadcasting Union.
Søren has performed several works for choir and piano with the Vocal Ensemble of the Danish Radio. He has a close collaboration with baritone Johannes Weisser, with whom he toured Scandinavia. They released a CD entitled Visiting Grieg that received outstanding reviews and was cited as one of the 3 best recordings of 2009 by Norwegian Aftenposten. It was also declared CD of the month by Classic FM (UK).
Søren Rastogi was educated in Copenhagen at the Royal Danish Academy of Music by Tove Lønskov and Niklas Sivelöv as well as in Berlin at Hochschule der Künste by Pascal Devoyon. He graduated from RDAM with the highest grades and had his debut from the soloist class in 2005. He has received numerous prizes and awards, including one from the Danish Music Critics Association. He was a prizewinner at the 5th Nordic Piano Competition, Nyborg and the Mendelssohn Competition, Berlin. Søren is currently teaching piano at the Royal Danish College of Music and the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
