Summer Music Programs

St. Petersburg College and its highly acclaimed music faculty have a summer lineup that offers a little something for everyone.

The Summer Music Program includes chorus, jazz band, steel drum ensemble and more. In addition, students may enroll for applied music instruction (private lessons) for 10 weeks in several performance areas, including voice, piano and guitar.

The Summer Vocal Institute at St. Petersburg College is an intensive fiveweek training and performance program highlighted by master classes by outstanding area clinicians. The Institute utilizes the state-of-the-art Music Center on the Gibbs campus for classes, workshops, seminars and performances. The 2008 program will run from May 19-June 20.

The Institute is designed to address beginning serious college-prep vocal students as well as college and semi-professional graduate students who need practical stage and performance experience. Emphasis will be on the African-American Spiritual influence in the vocal arts, as well as paying tribute to its historical heritage in music performance. In addition, there will be a focus in Italian language diction, and highlights from opera and musical theater.

For more information about these opportunities, call or visit the Humanities and Fine Arts Program Office, HS 118, at the St. Petersburg/ Gibbs Campus, (727) 341-4360.
