 Program Offers:  

This program is targeted toward financially and academically eligible students in grades 6-12. CROP is designed to motivate students to pursue a postsecondary education, develop basic learning skills, strengthen parent and student understanding of the benefits of postsecondary education, and foster personal and career development through supplemental instruction.

  • identification of students' academic needs;
  • referrals to appropriate school services and/ or assistance through after-school, weekend or other program activities;
  • sessions on study skills and test-taking;
  • instructions in math, science and computer usage;
  • academic and career counseling; and
  • training in cultural diversity and leadership skills.

    Has a summer residential program
    on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa.
    High school students work in teams to research a topic participate in activities focusing on the topic, and then present the results to the rest of the group. Middle school participants focus on activities geared toward developing their math, reading and writing skills. The program also conducts a Career Day, where business and industry representatives provide students with information regarding a variety of careers, along with information about the education needed for those careers.  Parents of CROP students are encouraged to participate in crop activities with their children.
