Schedule of Shows Summer 2012

Planetarium Director and resident astronomer Dr. Craig Joseph hosts FREE planetarium shows Fridays at 7 and 8:15 p.m. on the following dates:

The Stars of Summer

  • May 18
  • June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
  • July 6, 13, 20
Join us on the afternoon/early evening of June 5 to watch Venus move across the face of the Sun! Telescope viewing begins at 5:45 PM.

The St. Petersburg College Planetarium is a “star theater” that can accurately simulate the night sky at any time or location on Earth. The planetarium comfortably seats 47, and is open regularly on Friday evenings for free public shows.

Show times are 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on the dates listed above. Reservations are not necessary. Children are welcome, but must be 5 or older.

Weather permitting, the rooftop observatory will be open for telescope viewing after the shows.

The SPC Planetarium is located on the 2nd floor of the Natural Science building (SC 205) on the St. Petersburg Gibbs campus, on 69th Street North at 5th Avenue. Ample free parking is available.

Clubs, school groups, and other community organizations may reserve the planetarium for free special programs by calling 727-341-4320 or sending an email to joseph.craig@spcollege.edu.
