  Sustainability Club

Tarpon Springs Campus

Eric Stewart, President
Clifford Stodden, Faculty Advisor

The Purpose of our club is to create a community of college students who understand that our generation's future is marked with great potential as well as peril. We focus on discussing our local community’s ability to become sustainable. Discuss and learn more about:

  • Green Chemistry – little or no potentially hazardous byproducts
  • Sustainable Architecture – designing with minimal waste and utility use
  • Conscious Consuming – being conscious of a products' origin and environmental effects
  • Renewable Energy – solar, biofuel, wind, hydroelectric, nuclear, geothermal
  • Local Living Economies – creating products locally for consumers
  • Peak Oil – oil is a finite resource and is integral to our society
  • Climate Change – carbon dioxide emissions create a warming effect in our atmosphere
  • Closed Loop Production – using waste to create new products; recycle/reuse/reduce
  • Sustainable Agriculture – community supported agriculture and permaculture
  • Environmentalism – working on behalf of the environment that sustains all of us
