University of South Florida Transfer Articulation Policy |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
Effective Fall 2008 Following is a summary of the University of South Florida's transfer admissions criteria approved on April 1, 2008. Individual student appeals may be given additional consideration, based on system guidelines for admissions exceptions, course and space availability in the major program of study and overall university enrollment demand. Lower Level Transfers (12-35 transferable credit hours) Beginning Fall 2008, USF will no longer admit lower level transfers with 12 to 35 transferable credits. National data on retention and success suggests that students transferring this early are less likely to succeed. Lower Level Transfers (36-59 transferable credit hours) Beginning with Fall 2008, for students with 36 to 59 credit hours, USF will require a 3.00 transfer GPA (students who declare Nursing must have a 3.6 GPA), based on official transcript(s) from previous institution(s). In addition, they must meet SUS FTIC admission criteria, and complete all college prep course requirements. Florida Community College Transfers (With A.A. or A.S.) Beginning with Fall 2008, USF will require all transfers with an A.A. from a Florida Community College (FL CC) or non FL CC to meet the GPA requirement for their intended major and criteria for limited access majors shall take precedence. A listing of the limited access and high demand major cumulative GPA requirements is provided as an attachment to the policy. Many of the majors at USF require only a 2.0 GPA and FLCC AA and AS graduates need only meet those GPA requirements. For transfers with 60+ hours, but without the AA or articulated AS from a Florida community college or non FL CC, the USF-Tampa Campus requires a 2.50 transfer GPA or the GPA required for limited access, whichever is higher. This requirement will increase on the Tampa campus to a 2.75 starting in Summer 2009 and a 3.00 in Summer 2010. USF’s regional campuses in St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee and Lakeland will continue to consider applicants with a minimum 2.00 transfer GPA, except for those majors designated as limited access or high demand by the respective regional campus. As these changes in transfer criteria are implemented, USF will continue to assist transfer students in their efforts to identify the best academic fit within the USF System.
