Up close and personal
Peter Accetturo enjoys the freedom of his eCampus schedule.
Taking online classes at St. Petersburg College helps Peter Accetturo answer a higher calling.

Accetturo, a student at the SPC Campus Seminole Campus, takes courses through the college’s eCampus program, which allows him to participate in Christian mission trips.
“eCampus is awesome,” said Accetturo, who has just completed his 10th mission trip on the island of St. Lucia. “The online classes enable me to work anywhere – in state, out of state, in another country.”
Accetturo has traveled to countries such as Egypt, India, Morocco, England, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama to share his faith with others, and has served foreign communities by helping with health screenings and treatments, building and repairing houses, caring for children and hosting soccer camps. After completing his daily mission activities, he spends his evenings on his SPC coursework.
In addition to affording him the opportunity to study while traveling, Accetturo says SPC has taught him a work ethic that he applies to the mission field. He also says the college’s Humanities courses helped him to learn and understand the countries he’s served.
“It was the flexible schedule, the fact that it was close to home and the affordable price that brought me to SPC,” Accetturo said.
