Up close and Personal
A pleasant experience
Classes were closed at the first community college that Tampa resident Deon Huffman tried to enter. So he decided to explore the options at another Tampa Bay-area college – St. Petersburg College.

Huffman had heard the college had a good reputation, a nursing program his friends enjoyed, and bachelor degree offerings.
Upon arriving at SPC, Huffman not only received one-on-one assistance in applying for the college, he also was able to register for the classes he wanted.
He’s pleased with his decision, encountering positive experiences and people. Some of those people are his instructors, particularly his psychology instructor, who he says has a pleasant demeanor that makes his class enjoyable.
“I love the teachers,” Huffman said. “I believe the teachers make learning more understandable.”
