The program
includes: TABE remediation and GED test preparation through pre and post testing, individualized instruction and independent study. It is self-paced and performance-based, so students work at a speed that is comfortable for them. Students are encouraged to work closely with the SPC advisors and Career Center to explore career directions. PTEC advisors are also available.
Students are encouraged to complete their financial aide application (FAFSA) as soon as they are enrolled in the GED program in order to be prepared to transition to PTEC, SPC, or other post-secondary schools.
Getting started:
Interested students can arrive any time Monday through Thursday before 5:00 p.m. and take a two-and-a-half hour preliminary test (TABE) to assess eligibility and to determine any areas needing review.
No appointment is needed, but anyone with questions about the class or the procedures may call the instructors at 727 791-2613 or the Adult School at 727 469-4190.
What's different about this program?
Clearwater Adult Education Center has determined there is a need for students to attend classes at various times during the day. The SPC program was modified to run continuously for 13 hours and students are able to change days and times as needed without additional paperwork or other requirements. Two full time teachers and several part-time teachers work cooperatively to provide a seamless educational opportunity for our students.
