Up close and personal

Irvine Green knows a good start for higher education.

Irvine Green II always knew he’d continue the tradition of education in his family. His father is a pharmacist, his mother a teacher, and other members of his family are engineers. But he wasn’t sure what his major would be.
A good start - "SPC techers are very good, the classes are challenging, and at SPC, you know your credits will transfer." Irvine Green, Tarpon Springs Campus student seeking an Associate in Science degree in business
After high school, he considered art school but Green, an up-and-coming singer and music producer, wanted to dedicate himself to his music. So he decided to check out what St. Petersburg College had to offer.

“I thought it was interesting that a community college offers a four-year degree,” Green said.

Green considered a major in nursing before changing his major to marketing, a degree he can use to meet his goal of owning a record label. He is working on an Associate in Science degree. But he knows that through SPC, he has the option of going on to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Being at SPC also has given him time to complete (under the stage name of Vynez) his first CD called “The Overload,” featuring R&B tunes he produced in his home studio.

“If you originally wanted to go to a state university and for some reason it doesn’t work out, SPC is a very good school to go to just to get started,” Green said. “The teachers are very good, the classes are challenging, and at SPC, you know your credits will transfer.”
