RICHARD JOHNSTON was appointed to the St. Petersburg College Board of
Trustees by Gov. Jeb Bush in February 1999. He is a St. Petersburg CPA. Recently, he was chosen Trustee of the Year by the Florida Association of Community Colleges and by the Association of Community College Trustees for the southern region. Other community service includes high appointive posts in education: member of the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, the Florida Community College Coordinating Board, the University of South Florida Campus Advisory Board and the USF Presidential Selection Committee. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Akron.
