Common questions about MySPC and how to solve them **Click to find instructions and tutorials

** Many problems with MySPC can be solved by clearing your cache and deleting old cookies.

View instructions for how to clear your cache in a variety of browsers.  (pdf)

I can't get to the MySPC screen to log in.
Check your browser for compatibility with our new system - MySPC uses a high level of security to protect your information. If your browser is not configured properly, you will not be able to access the login screen.

I get the message "Webserver appears to be incorrectly configured; system detected that multiple web server sessions are being generated during logon. Please contact the system administrator."
If you have already checked your web browser for compatibility (see above) then it means that your cookies are disabled. Cookies are enabled/disabled in Internet Explorer by choosing Internet Options from the Tools menu, in Netscape by choosing Preferences from the Edit menu, and in any browser by running cookie blocking software.  We use cookies solely for the purpose of tracking your registration session. They persist only until you log off of MySPC and close your browser window.

I can't figure out how to turn on my cookies!

In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.  Once there, choose the Privacy tab at the top, then click the Advanced button to see the following screen:

Check the box for Override automatic cookie handling, then check the box for Always allow session cookies.  Click OK until you are back to the main screen.

In Netscape Communicator, go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences, then click the Advanced choice on the left to find cookies.  You need only to accept cookies that are sent back to the originating server.

I get the login screen but am told my 'User ID and/or Password are invalid'.

  1. Double-check your Student ID number. (MySPC calls it a User ID.)  You can look up your student ID number here.

  2. Don't enter any leading zeros for your Student ID number.

  3. Be sure about your password. You may want to Reset your Password. (Note: this emails your new password to the email address on record with SPC. Trouble with reset, see the next question.)

If you've never had a password you can Create your Password.

You can Change your Password any time you wish (requires current password).

I tried to reset my password but failed.
If you don't have an email address on file with SPC, or got an error when trying to create or reset your password, you can visit a campus admissions/registration office to create or reset your password.  Distance learning students may call the student Technical Support Desk.

I get in, but then I don't know what to do.
MySPC is extremely easy to navigate and you may not need any help figuring out what to do.  But, if you would like some pointers, we have a variety of help available for you here, and again once you're in the system. In the system, choose Click for Help Options and follow that path to these tips:

  1. QuickStart Guide with registration steps

  2. Tips for using the new MySPC

  3. Determine Subject areas (needed to search for a class)

  4. Complete Instructions with examples - requires Microsoft Word to view

  5. Drop or withdraw from a class - printable pdf

**A set of tutorials is available on these four subjects:

  • Log in and general navigation

  • Enroll in a class

  • Search for a class

  • Drop, view your schedule and pay your fees

Each of the tutorials takes you screen by screen through the process.

I'm not a student at SPC, but I'd like to apply or see what classes you offer.
To apply for admission
or to browse our schedules as a non-student, go to the MySPC login page and look for the links to View Course Descriptions, View Course Offerings, and Apply for Admission on the lower left.

I can't figure out the term to use in View Schedule of Classes searches.
Term values increment by 5 - Summer 2007-2008 is 0395; Fall 2008-2009 is 0400.

I get in, and I'm following your instructions, but something isn't right here.
There are some errors you may encounter that may require SPC staff intervention to resolve.  Please visit a campus near you if you experience any of the following:

  • When you select the option to Register for a class, you do not see a choice for the term you wish to enroll in.
    Before you contact someone
, make sure that it is within our registration period - check the Academic Calendar for dates.  If the registration period is open, click the Term Activation link on the far left menu and enter the term.  Then try again to Register for a Class.
  • You are told that you need to complete the Orientation, but you have already completed it, or had it waived for your program.
  • You are warned that you require Math, Reading and/or English preparatory classes before you can register, and you believe that you have already satisfied the requirements through your test scores or by taking the prep courses. [These requirements have always been in place, but have not always been enforced.]
  • You receive the message 'Requisites not met' but you believe that to be untrue based on your course history.

If you are an eCampus student and receive any of the above messages, contact the Cyber Advisor at cyberadvisor@spcollege.edu or by phone at (727) 394-6019 or (727) 394-6106 for assistance with your problems.

I can't see the whole screen and have to do a lot of scrolling back and forth.
MySPC works best if you set your screen resolution for 1024x768. The system still works at lower settings, but some info may be crowded on the screen.

I though I dropped/added/paid for a class but I am not seeing that here.  What have I done wrong?

Your browser may be caching old information.  Log out of MySPC and close the login screen.  Then follow the instructions for your browser.

In Internet Explorer:

  1. Pull down the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.

  2. Click the Settings button in the middle of the page, and make sure "Every visit to the page" is chosen for how often the browser should check for new versions of pages.  Click OK.

  3. Now click the Delete Files button, also in the middle of the page.  In the resulting window, check the "Delete all offline content" button and click OK.

  4. If you have a Delete Cookies button, click that and click OK to Delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet Files folder.

  5. If you don't have a Delete Cookies button, click the Settings button. Click the View Files button, select them all (Edit menu, Select All), then press the Delete key on your keyboard and click Yes/OK to remove all of the files.

  6. Click OK until you are out of the Internet Options dialog box.

In Netscape:

  1. Pull down the Edit menu and choose Preferences.

  2. Click the + next to the Advanced tab on the left and choose Cache.

  3. Click the Clear Memory Cache and then the Clear Disk Cache buttons.

  4. Make sure "Every time" radio button is checked in the section at the bottom.

  5. Click OK.

In Firefox:

  1. Pull down the Tools menu and choose Clear Private Data

  2. In the dialog box that appears, make sure Cache, Cookies and Authenticated Sessions are all checked, then click the Clear Private Data button.

How can I find Honors courses in your system?
When you go to the Basic Search, simply type %H in the Catalog Number field, then choose Wildcard from the pull-down menu to the right of that.  Now click Search at the bottom of the screen.

How can I apply for graduation?
Look for the Graduation Info & Application link for dates, times and our online graduation for application.

I'm ready to try again...
