Key Position Information:

The Learning Resources Department is dedicated to providing the best out-of-class support for St. Petersburg College students. Learning Resources is a vital part of SPC's flagship initiative, The College Experience, which seeks to help students finish what they start, from application to graduation.

As part of a team of professional tutors, the successful candidate for this position should:

  • Provide clear explanation and instruction of basic and advanced concepts in reading comprehension, English rhetoric and composition, and public speaking, as they apply to a wide variety of courses across the disciplines;
  • Work well with students from diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds, and of varying abilities;
  • Exemplify the attitude and skills to build strong partnerships with faculty;
  • Demonstrate strong presentation and public speaking skills;
  • Compile, design, and deliver instructional materials in individual, group, and online settings;
  • Assist the Director in scheduling staff, reporting data, and recruiting and training student assistants and volunteers;
  • Exhibit the flexibility to manage multiple initiatives within a changing, fast-paced environment;
  • Continue to learn new systems and processes at SPC while working in this position;
  • Focus on customer service in an open, busy, collaborative, student-centered learning facility.

The successful candidate should be able to change schedules on a semester basis to cover departmental needs. Candidate must be able to work during the busiest time of the day (8am-4:30pm) and at least one regularly scheduled evening (until 9 PM) a week. An occasional Saturday may be required.

Associate's degree.

Two years related experience.
