SAP Maximum Time Frame

You must be on target to complete your current degree or certificate program before attempting more than 150% of the credit hours required for your current program of study. If you are not on target (it is mathematically impossible) to complete your degree before exceeding the Maximum Time Frame (MTF), you are not maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress.

This is a cumulative review of college-level credit hours attempted that are applicable to your current degree or certificate program of study. The Maximum Time Frame calculation includes the following coursework:

  • MAT 1033, MAT 1033L, MAT 1100, SLS 1101, SLS 1126, EAP 1500, and EAP 1695
  • transfer credit hours that are applicable toward the current program of study
  • repeated credit hours that are applicable toward the current program of study
  • credit hours attempted for which the student did not receive financial aid that are applicable toward the current program of study
  • incomplete credit hours that are applicable toward the current program of study
  • withdrawn credit hours that are applicable toward the current program of study
  • credit hours that are applicable toward the current program of study that may have been exempted from calculation of the academic GPA under the Academic Grade Forgiveness Policy

As soon as it can be determined that you are not on target, your Financial Aid Status will be affected as a result of Maximum Time Frame (MTF). The following are two scenarios that will affect MTF:

  1. Attempted credit hours exceed the MTF (150%) for the current degree program.
    • You have 91 credit hours that are counting or could have counted towards your current degree program. You are currently working on an AA degree which requires 60 credit hours. You have already exceeded MTF.  91 > (90 = 60 x 150%)
  2. Attempted credit hours plus the number of credit hours remaining to complete the current degree program exceed MTF (150%) for your current degree program.
    • You attempted 41 credit hours toward your current program which is an AA degree, but you also have 50 credit hours left to complete your current AA degree.  You are not on target to complete your degree because the number of credit hours attempted plus the number of credit hours remaining exceed MTF for the AA degree. (41 + 50 = 91) > 90
