St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society (SPIFFS) presents an evening of Ukrainian, Serbian and Russian folk dancing at the St. Petersburg College Music Center. SPIFFS is Tampa Bay’s own United Nations and the only independent non-profit, multi-cultural folk fair organization in the country.
Local performing groups will join the visiting Ukrainian Academy of Dance & Arkan Dance Company. The Academy was founded in 1987 by Danovia Stechishin and has trained over 1,000 dancers. The group has traveled to Florida, New York, Taiwan, Brazil, Drummondville, Quebec, Dauphin, Manitoba, Ukraine, Mexico, Turkey, Italy and Korea. This year they celebrate their 25th Anniversary and will be performing at Disneyworld before returning to St. Petersburg for a special performance with The Serbian Pearl Folklore Group and Russian dancers from St. Petersburg Academy of Ballet Art.
