Creating and embracing belonging
The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) aims to provide leadership, information, consultation, coordination, and assistance to the various units within St. Petersburg College in an effort to embrace equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. EDI also ensures SPC’s compliance with policies covering discrimination, harassment, accommodations, equal opportunity and Title IX. We reach beyond the college to establish beneficial relationships with individual and institutional partners who share mutual goals and interests. The EDI office seeks to cultivate inclusiveness, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging throughout the college and the community.
- Equity: Promoting justice, impartiality, and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems
- Diversity: The presence of multiple identities, personal experiences, values, and world views that arise from differences of culture and circumstance
- Inclusion: An outcome to ensure the thoughts, ideas, and perspectives of individuals matter and are welcomed
- Belonging: Found in an organization that engages full potential of the individual, where innovation thrives, and views, beliefs, and values are integrated
