Djuan Fox
In his more than 23 years of service at SPC, Djuan Fox has worn many hats. From recruitment to research to curriculum development, Djuan says that with each role, he’s enjoyed having the opportunity and pleasure to serve.
“Whether you work with students or behind the scenes working on data, we all fit in the bigger picture of serving our community,” Djuan said.
Serving the community is Djuan’s true passion, and something that he immediately connected with when he began his career at SPC as a career coach for at-risk high school students in 2001.
“SPC was a place that felt like home,” said the native of St. Louis, Missouri. “It’s a place I’ve loved and grown up in.”
His latest role as the Associate Dean for the Downtown and Midtown Centers is part of a new staffing structure that focuses on building a collaborative environment for students and faculty. Serving as an intermediary between faculty and student services, he says the new structure has helped break down silos, build bridges across disciplines, collaborate across the College, and provide consistent messaging for students.
The role is yet another example of how Djuan has been at the forefront of new initiatives that help move the College forward. He was part of the team that helped implement data dashboards to help leadership make data-driven decisions [prior to Power Business Intelligence which is now part of the fabric of SPC], and he was instrumental in helping bring bachelor’s degrees to SPC.
“I get the opportunity to work in an environment that is always forward thinking,” he said. “SPC is now known as a premier state college that offers bachelor’s degrees. I’m proud I was part of the team that helped bring that vision to light.”
Wherever his journey takes him next, he’s happy to work alongside people who work collaboratively to serve others with grace, and he hopes that he’s remembered for doing the same.
