Jacob Wortock

Director of Recruitment Services

For 18 years, Jacob Wortock has been a steady force at St. Petersburg College, shaping the student experience from the first handshake to the final cap toss. As Director of Recruitment Services, Jacob leads with intention — building pathways to higher education through strategic outreach, community partnerships and a team-first mindset.

Jacob’s journey at SPC began as a recruiter, but his impact has stretched far beyond that role. Over the years, he’s served as an adjunct faculty member, club advisor, and mentor to countless students and colleagues.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with students at both ends of their journey. From helping them get in the door to finding a career and celebrating with them at graduation. It’s incredibly rewarding,” said Jacob.

He reflects on the joy of commencement as a full-circle moment. “Sometimes it’s been six months, sometimes two, four, even seven years, but when they finally cross that finish line, you just get to celebrate with them. That’s what makes this work so special.”

Jacob’s dedication to student success is matched by his commitment to mentorship. Colleagues describe him as a leader who listens deeply, offers thoughtful guidance, and fosters confidence in others. Under his leadership, SPC’s enrollment efforts have grown stronger, not just in numbers, but in impact.

Jacob says what makes SPC such an amazing place is not only the connections with students but also the relationships he’s built with his colleagues. Over nearly two decades, he’s formed lasting friendships and found daily inspiration in the people around him. He credits his team for motivating him and fueling his
commitment to the College’s mission.

“Seeing the work they do and the difference it makes, that’s what drives me to keep pushing forward,” he said.

Jacob’s earliest inspiration, though, came from someone who knows the Titan spirit well. His mother, a former Dean of Nursing at SPC, helped him find his path and instilled in him a passion for education and service. Though she’s been retired for over a decade, Jacob says, “She’s still a Titan at heart.”

Whether he’s cheering students across the graduation stage or guiding his team through new challenges, Jacob Wortock leads with purpose and heart. His story is a testament to the power of mentorship, the strength of community, and the lasting legacy of those who choose to lift others along the way.
