Kelly Ann Anderson

Academic and Career Advisor

When it comes to perseverance, passion and making a difference in students’ lives, Kelly Ann Anderson shines as a vital member of SPC’s Workforce, Community and Corporate Partnerships team.

Kelly’s journey to SPC wasn’t a straight line—but it was driven by heart. After spending 20 years as a stay-at-home mom, working part-time and volunteering in schools, she knew it was time for a new chapter. One afternoon, while relaxing in her pool, Kelly had a realization: It was time to go back to work full time.

“It was scary,” she recalls. “Technology had changed so much, and I hadn’t worked full-time in years. But I had to be brave and just put myself out there.” She applied to SPC—and soon found herself in a role that felt like the perfect fit.

Now, as an Academic and Career Advisor, Kelly helps students and community members navigate SPC’s Allied Health programs. Whether she’s answering emails, fielding calls or guiding someone through the enrollment process, she brings empathy, encouragement and years of grassroots experience to every conversation.

“I love hearing their stories—what they want to do, what they’ve been through,” Kelly says. “A lot of students call back later to say they finished the program and landed the job they were hoping for. Those moments make me so proud.”

Before SPC, Kelly spent years volunteering in and around her children’s schools, helping students with FAFSA forms, college applications and more. That experience made one thing clear: she had a gift for supporting others on their educational journey. So when her youngest daughter enrolled at St. Petersburg Collegiate High School, Kelly saw her chance to channel that passion into a full-time career.

“My favorite thing about working at SPC—besides the wonderful, intelligent people around me—is getting to see the mission of the College and workforce in action,” she shares. “We’re helping students get trained, move into the workforce and improve our community. That’s powerful.”

Outside of her SPC role, Kelly is well integrated in the community. She is a fourth-generation Floridian who has lived in Pinellas County since she was five years old. She and her husband have been married for 25 years and have three children, ages 18, 21 and 23.

With her kids now graduated, she’s exploring new hobbies like pickleball, attending arts events and bird watching – a budding interest complete with field guides, a journal (currently blank) and binoculars on her wish list.

Thank you, Kelly, for turning your SPC experience into an opportunity to lift up others—and for the care and dedication you bring to our workforce programs every day.
