Stephanie Henningson

Student Life & Leadership Coordinator

For roughly three decades, Stephanie Henningsen has been a constant source of inspiration and support at SPC.

As the Student Life & Leadership Coordinator at the Clearwater Campus, Henningsen’s long-standing career is defined by her commitment to helping students find their voice and their place within the Titan community.

From organizing a career-focused trip to Miami to supporting student-led clubs, her goal is to provide extracurricular educational opportunities that bridge academics with real-world experiences.

“Sometimes we are the first ones here in the morning and the last ones here at night,” said Stephanie, highlighting the effort her department puts into campus life.

From mental health initiatives to advocating for free bus rides for students, Henningsen’s work ensures that the Clearwater Campus is more than just a place to study — it’s a community.

Henningsen began her career at SPC in marketing before transitioning to admissions. In 2011, she found her true calling in Student Life & Leadership, where she has spent the last 14 years shaping the leaders of tomorrow. In 2025, she coordinated the momentous Clearwater Campus 60th Anniversary Celebration, which included carnival games and funnel cakes.

“We welcomed the Mayor of Clearwater along with SPC President Dr. Williams. Not only were we able to celebrate 60 decades of our campus but it was a great opportunity for everyone to come together and foster community and relationships,” she said.

Henningsen works to lead by example and will often pose the question to students, Are you being the leader you would want to follow? If the answer is no, she is there to help them navigate the necessary changes, often being a mentor and friend.

“I always try to be present, to listen and to encourage students,” she said. “For me, the emphasis is on serving others.”

Quick to share credit for her department’s success with her colleagues at the other campuses, Stephanie says, “I am so grateful for the team I work with!”

After 29 years the Titan experience comes full circle when former students return to campus.

“The most rewarding thing about my job is when students come back and visit! It reminds you that the time you invested in them was worth it,” she said.

Kirra James is one of those former students whose life was impacted.

“Ms. Henningsen is more to me than just a past advisor. She was a teacher, a friend and a supporter,” said Kirra, who went on to pursuing her bachelor’s degree in business at the University of South Florida. “I felt isolated in the flow of college life, like I didn’t fit in. She helped me find a safe place in student government where I finally had friends. She gave me something to be proud of and made me feel like I was extremely important.”
