Thank you to the Florida College System (FCS) Foundation for their recent gift of $63,135 to the St. Petersburg College Foundation in support of scholarships. The gift was recognized at a check presentation this week at SPC’s Downtown Center, with members of the FCS Foundation board and SPC leadership in attendance.

“Since 1999, FCS has been providing support for the 28 Florida College System institutions for scholarships and programs, helping students achieve their postsecondary goals,” said FCS Foundation Board member Dr. Tom Furlong, “Over the past decade, the FCS Foundation has awarded SPC over $650,000. Today, we’re all proud to present this award of $63,135.”

The gift comes as a result of support from Florida Blue, which supports scholarships for nursing, and Helios Education Foundation and Bank of America, both supporting scholarships for first generation students.

At the check presentation, Dr. Williams thanked the FCS Foundation for their continued hard work in raising funds that create opportunities and access to education.

Through gifts such as the FCS donation, each year, the SPC Foundation awards more than $2.5 million annually in scholarships to SPC students.
