Program Summary

The Bachelor of Science in Biology degree serves primarily to educate students for laboratory and field-related careers in the Biological sciences and as a transfer curriculum for graduate and professional schools.

Graduation Requirements

FOREIGN LANGUAGE:
If you have not completed two consecutive years of the same foreign language in high school or 8 credits in college, you will need to complete 8 credits of foreign language before completing the B.S. program.

CIVIC LITERACY:
As per Florida Rule 6A-10.04213, baccalaureate degree students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution in the 2021-2022 academic school year and thereafter must demonstrate competency through successful completion of a civic literacy course AND by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).

Minimum Grade of "C" required in all State Mandated and Major courses.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENT 60 credits with at least 15 General Education credits
Note: Students should complete MAC 1147 as early as possible to ensure timely progression; this course is a Prerequisite to MAC 2311 and PHY 1053.
STATE MANDATED PREREQUISITES
Courses listed below MUST be completed prior to admission.
MAC 2233 & STA 2023 are recommended for students intending to take PHY 1053 & PHY 1054.
MAC 2311 & MAC 2312 are recommended for students intending to take PHY 2048 & PHY 2049
MAC 1147 or (MAC 1140 & MAC 1114) are required prerequisite courses for MAC 2311
