College Reach-Out ProgramThe College Reach-Out Program (CROP) motivates and prepares Pinellas County middle and high school students to succeed in college. CROP students face academic and economic challenges and would be unlikely to apply to college without special support.

CROP services and benefits

CROP students receive:

  • An assessment of their academic needs
  • Workshops on study skills and test-taking strategies
  • Instruction in math, reading comprehension and technology
  • Academic and career counseling
  • Training in cultural diversity and opportunities to attend cultural activities
  • Referrals to appropriate school services for enhancing academic skills

Students need:

  • A Pinellas County Schools identification number
  • To be enrolled in grades 6 to 12
  • Ability to abide by the schedules and rules of the program
  • To meet at least one of the economic guidelines below
  • To meet at least one of the academic guidelines below

Students must meet at least one of the guidelines below:

  • Received Public Assistance (SNAP, TANF, Food Stamps, Medicaid, Housing, etc.)
  • Eligible for free/reduced lunch program
  • Orphan or Ward of the court

Students must meet at least one of the guidelines below:

  • 1st Generation
  • GPA less than 2.5
  • Low Grades in Math or Science
  • Low Achievement Level scores in English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math (FSA) tests
  • Below Level III in Algebra I End of Course Assessment (EOC)
